Gables Bridge 4 Peace Walkathon
Posted:
02/02/2010
The IB sponsored
Gables Bridge 4 Peace Walkathon
will be held Saturday, February
13th beginning at 10:00 A.M. on
the school's athletic field .
The Gables Bridge 4 Peace
project began 3 years ago with
the adoption of 10 impoverished
elementary schools in rural
Honduras. That year Gables
students collected nearly 40
large containers of school
supplies for the children there.
Last year, Gables held its first
walkathon raising over $6,000
for desperately needed classroom
construction for its sister
school in the Dominican
Republic. This year, the
goal is to raise $10,000 to
finish the school construction
begun last year and to donate to
the Haitian relief effort.
This year's event will include
more activities -- teacher dunk
tank, rock climbing wall,
mechanical bull, music, and lots
of food. Everyone is
invited to attend.
