9-12th Grade Students and Parents: please click on this link to read the brochure entitled “Seeking Financial Aid” which is part of the State of Florida’s Navigating Your Financial Future series.

Students and Parents: Please go to ConnectEDU through your student and parent portals and register your profiles. This is an amazing tool where you can create college lists, search for scholarships (local and national), complete career planning and keep track of all aspects of your high school career. You can also access the site through and Parents can also access other great college planning tools through College Board’s Big Future and YouCanGo websites. Visit  and to see what it has to offer.


                                        Students and Parents
9th Grade:
Get good grades; get involved in clubs; get involved in sports; build reading skills and vocabulary -READ; start your community service; start planning to get a summer job/internship/meaningful travel; focus on CORE academic subjects; get to know your CAP advisor/counselors.
10th Grade:
Repeat 9th grade checklist PLUS take the PLAN and PSAT tests; buy an SAT/ACT book and start doing practice tests1x/month; start a resume; track your academics and community service; peruse college websites; start thinking about careers.
11th Grade:
Repeat the 10th grade checklist PLUS make sure to get good grades particularly in core subjects; take on leadership roles in clubs and community service organizations; start SAT and ACT tutoring or prep courses in the fall; take the PSAT in the fall; start to read college brochures and college websites often; complete ALL SAT and ACT testing in the spring; start making career and college lists; get a job/internship in the summer; meet with your CAP advisor in the spring.
12th Grade:
Meet with CAP advisor; Apply to colleges EARLY in the fall; take any remaining standardized tests; Send score reports to schools; order transcripts; keep grades up; take on top leadership roles in school and community organizations; search and apply for scholarships; fill out Bright Futures Application; fill out FAFSA application; keep CAP advisor abreast of ALL college acceptances and scholarships received
