THE PLAN TEST
The PLAN Test (an Optional Pre-ACT Test) is given only once a year. This year it will be given on Wednesday, November 15, 2012. The estimated administration time for this test is three hours.

The PLAN test is a good practice for the ACT Assessment; a college admission test which is taken by juniors and seniors. Each participant receives a report that identifies academic strengths and weaknesses. For those students who are unsure about college, PLAN can still assist them in thinking about (other) career options.

The PLAN test is a first step in your child’s preparation for the ACT Assessment – it covers the same subject areas; gives an estimated ACT score; helps to know what high school courses your child should be taking; and connects your child with colleges and careers that match his/her interests.

The EXPLORE Test (an Optional Pre-ACT Test) is given only once a year. This year it will be given on Wednesday, November 15, 2012. The estimated administration time for this test is three hours.

The EXPLORE program is designed to help 8th and 9th graders explore a broad range of options for their future. EXPLORE prepares students not only for their high school coursework, but for their post–high school choices as well. It marks an important beginning for a student's future academic and career success.

Through EXPLORE students' strengths and weaknesses can be identified early in their educational development, when they have the greatest opportunity to establish a four-year program of studies that will help them achieve their career and educational goals.

The EXPLORE test is a first step in your child’s preparation for the ACT Assessment – it covers the same subject areas; gives an estimated ACT score; helps to identify which high school courses your child should be taking; and connects your child with colleges and careers that match his/her interests.

A WORD ABOUT PSAT TESTING

In mid-December students will get the results from the PSAT test, they will also receive an “Item Analysis” report. This report contains a listing of their answer, the correct answer, and an explanation of “why” for each question. They will also receive their test booklet, which will enable them to analyze their results and determine areas of strengths and weaknesses.

Some scholarship sponsors make use the PSAT scores when considering applicants for awards. Students must take this test during their Junior year in order to enter competitions for National Merit Scholarship Corporation awards.
