Through the music program and as members of the Band of Distinction, students develop technical skills on wind or percussion instruments through the refinement and performance of high school band literature. Emphasis is placed on the development of skills in interpretation of notation and expressive markings, individual and ensemble performance, and critical listening.

Creative Writing Club is a monthly meeting where aspiring writers, creative minds, and literary guests combine to share a love of writing at Coral Gables Senior High. Writers share their original work and interact with mentors and other authors. We will also be writing, editing, and distributing a literary magazine as well as promoting writing opportunities around our campus. Come join in on the fun!

Gables Guard

The Gables Guard school year is divided in semesters: (1) marching season and (2) winter guard. During marching season they are the auxiliary component of the Band of Distinction. They perform and compete with the band. During winter guard they are their own entity and compete within the South Florida Winter Guard Association and the Florida Bandmasters Association circuits. Italian Club

The purpose of the Circolo Italiano consists of three main topics and those are, first to foster an understanding and appreciation for the Italian language and culture through social activities. The other one is to create relationships with one another based on their interests in the Italian language and other diverse aspects involving the Italian culture. And last but not least, is to promote a good citizenship and community awareness through volunteer activities. We are guided by these three main points from the second article of the club constitution which members must fallow in order to prosper and really contribute to the community and ultimately become official active members of this great Circolo Italiano.

Math Honor Society

IBHS

The IBHS Mentoring Minds Club offers support to students struggling with academic work or who are just overwhelmed and stressed by the academic and social pressures at Gables. Mentors meet regularly with students to tutor in specific subject areas or assignments. The club is actively involved in community projects partnering with Miami Children's’ Hospital and a poor rural school district in Honduras. Socials are held after school where mentors and their mentees can meet informally to relax, socialize meet old and make new friends and just have a good time.

This club helps develop public speaking and argumentative skills.  It is a great club for aspiring lawyers, actors or any jobs requiring public speaking. 

National Honor Society

The National Honor Society is one of the nation’s finest organizations established to acknowledge outstanding high school students. The purpose of this organization is to create enthusiasm for scholarship, to stimulate a desire to render service, to promote leadership, and to develop character in the students of secondary schools. You are selected to join during the last semester of the school year; therefore you must have at least a 4.000 weighted GPA.
