Materials you will need:
ruler, small jars with tops
Procedure to follow:
You are going to try to identify as many
of the animals that are living in your biotic community as you can.
1. Pick a spot to investigate.
Look for animals in these locations.
2. For each animal that you find:
on the surface of the soil
under the soil to a depth of 10 centimeters
in the leaf litter
under rocks or logs
on plant trunk, branches, leaves, flowers
Record which location
it was found in.
Count how many
of these animals are there.
3. Draw, or take, a picture of each
animal that you find.
This way, you can identify
it back in the classroom.
